Employees of Koch companies in Wichita concluded a record-setting holiday campaign, supporting the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree and Star of Hope gift drive. The three-week campaign ended on Dec. 9 with nearly $21,000 in cash donated and more than 1,120 area children and adult angels served.
Koch employees surpassed their goal of 875 angels. In addition, the campaign broke Koch’s all-time record set in 2010 of 1,010 angels served. It was the 22nd consecutive year for the drive at Koch.
According to Major Douglas Rowland, Wichita Salvation Army city commander, “We are proud to continue this long-standing partnership with Koch Industries. I would like to thank all the employees of Koch for their outstanding support and congratulate them on setting a new record. This just shows the commitment to the community that the employees of Koch have for Wichita.”
“Year after year, our employees show a genuine commitment to helping others through campaigns such as the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree,” said Dale Gibbens, Koch Industries’ vice president of human resources. “From purchasing gifts, to donating money, registering participants, sorting and packing, this project enjoys the support of literally hundreds of our Wichita employees.”
Each year, The Salvation Army collects toys for disadvantaged children and families throughout Sedgwick County. This year, the Army expects to help more than 4,000 Wichita-area families through its Christmas distribution initiatives, which will benefit more than 10,000 area children
